Children's Education

Sunday school is all about the BIG Bible stories. Each week the children explore a different story through scripture, games and crafts. We are using the FaithWeaver NOW™ Sunday school curriculum. FaithWeaver NOW makes Bible learning fun by using a variety of active experiences to help students learn in the ways they learn best. Each week the children receive a take-home page that includes ideas for family discussion and activities that will help reinforce what they are learning in Sunday school.

Classrooms are divided into developmentally age appropriate groups. Preschool-5K, 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th and 5th grade and 6thand 7th grade. All classrooms explore the same Bible passage each week, making it easier for families to grow in faith together.

Each week an offering is taken in the classroom. The money collected helps support our friends Fred and Nadia, children from Happy Life Children’s Home, in Kenya Africa. Through the year we are able to continue to support their education and life through bake sales, special offerings, and Summer Bible Camp.

For the 2015-2016 Program Year at North Shore Congregational Church

  • Crib & Crawler for newborns through two-year-olds is open and staffed on Sunday mornings, 9:45-11:15.
  • All children begin Sunday morning in worship with their families. Children in preschool-grade 7 are dismissed to Sunday school classes after a children's message.

3rd graders annually receive their Bibles on Bible Sunday in October.

Family Mission meets in the church kitchen on the first Sunday of each month after worship. We prepare bag lunches for "Repairers of the Breach" daytime homeless shelter.

Children actively participate in Sunday worship:

  • Our younger Children are invited to serve as acolytes at the start of the 10:00am worship hour by carrying the light into the sanctuary and leading the clergy and choir into worship.
  • Children's Choir rehearses during the education hour from 9:00-9:45am in the Chapel.

The newsletter offers non-Sunday opportunities for fellowship and service!
