Local Service

Local Service and Mission at NSCC encourages members to become the resources God uses to change lives and transform the world.

Author Tim Dearborn writes, "The goal of all mission activity is that people would more fully know God's love for them and find themselves more in love with him as a consequence of their involvement.:*

Below is more information on how NSCC "more fully knows God's love".

St. Benedict's Community Meal

For over 40 years, NSCC, has been one of 85 sponsoring groups for St. Ben's. As a supporter members prepare, transport, and serve meals. St Ben's provides nourishment for an average of 365 men, women and children of all ages each evening. February 2010 the Confirmation class provided the transportation of the food and serve the meals.

Rake and Run

Sojourner Family Peace Center provides education, advocacy and resources to keep people safe. The Peace Center operates a 42 bed shelter that has provided safety and support services to thousands of women and children. The Peace Center is committed to crating communities where people live peacefully. April 3rd to April 17, 2011 NSCC held our annual Squeaky Clean Benevolence a gathering of Clean and Care products for the Peace Center. We will collect items such as school supplies, diapers/pull-ups, wipes, diaper cream, shampoo, lotion, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, Tylenol, cold medicine (adult and children).

Weed and Feed is a ministry of NSCC that assists in the maintenance of the church grounds.  In the spring we are preparing the front garden, mulching, weeding and trimming. During the fall we work together cleaning up the church grounds for winter.  We usually work together for an hour and then enjoy a simple lunch and fellowship.  This is a great ministry for all ages. Service hours can be noted for youth! Child care will be made available upon request.

Come for a beautiful summer evening of "weeding and feeding" with some of your church family on June 22 5:30-7:00. We will do some weeding and trimming on the church grounds and conclude with a light potluck supper. All ages welcome! Bring/wear comfortable clothes, gloves and some light gardening tools. Please sign up below the bulletin board or contact Julie Smith.
