Enta_Congr_church_062015_crop_resize_3xWho went on the trip?

The North Shore Congregation Church team consisted of Jack Clor, Barb Holzhauer, Laura Lennie, Nicole Lennie, John Papineau, Julia Papineau, Paul Scharnweber, Chris Schimpf, David Schimpf, Lindsey Schimpf, Nathan Schimpf, Noah Schimpf, Taylor Snider, Timmy Snider and Hetty Tollefson. We were joined by fifteen teammates from Ozaukee Congregational Church, and by about thirty United Methodists from Berea and Lorraine, Ohio.

What did the team do?Hosanna_2015_House_complete_crop_resize_3x

Together, we built a house in less than four days! From just a afloor slab on Monday at 8:00 AM, we created a totally finished and furnished home, ready for occupancy at noon on Thursday. Shirley, a fixed-income widow, moved into her new home that day. She no longer had to live in a make-shift two-trailer arrangement that was badly in need of extensive repairs. And her mortgage plus utilities will be much lower than just her utilities were in the trailers! The 24' x 30' home was valued at $90,000. But, because of our volunteer labor, the actual cost was about half of that, making Shirley's mortgage very reasonable.

 did all this happen?

We left home on Saturday morning, June 20 and returned home on Friday evening, June 26.

All Church Mission Trip 2011

June 25-July2, 2011 All-Church Mission Trip to Hosana Industies, Inc. Since 1990, HI has completed over 2200 projects in the local Pittsburgh Region and throughout the nation while leading volunteers for over 133,000 volunteer workdays. The total market value for these projects exceeds $26 million while the mission has only spent approixmately $12 million for this work as groups like NSCC volunteers come the share their talents.

The youth of NSCC were blessed to work alongside Hosanna's dedicated, trained staff to construct a community center in July 2010.

Reverand Sue Lefeber welcomed the team "who have responded to a call to Christ's service. They have been called to join with others in ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of God's people at Hosanna Industries in Pennsylvania".

Reverand Karl D. Schimpf gave each of the team a cross and asked them to give them away to someone they have met in Pennsylvania who needs hope. I am convinced that God is building a family for eternity. I'm going to ask when they return from their adventure to share their stories with us and let us know to whom they gave their cross that we might rejoice as people of God, answering God's call to adventure...
